What has changed in the central contract?
The Pakistan Cricket Board has made a big change for Pakistani cricketers. The players who used to get a central contract for three years, will now get it for only one year. But the good news is that there has been no reduction in the salary of the players. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had called a meeting in Lahore, in which this decision was taken. Pakistan’s new coach and other important people were also present in this meeting.

These decisions were taken in the meeting?
Actually, Pakistan’s cricket team performed very poorly in the recently held T20 World Cup. After this, PCB has decided to make major changes in its rules. Now players will be judged every year on the basis of their performance, fitness and behavior. If a player does not play well or is not fit, his contract can also be terminated.

Apart from this, all the players will now have to give fitness tests every three months. Also, players who want to play in foreign leagues will now also have to follow strict rules.

According to a PCB official, “The selectors have recommended no changes in the financial part of the central contract. Now the contracts will be for 12 months, in which the fitness, behaviour and form of the players will be assessed every 12 months.”

The official further added, “Only those players will get NOC who fulfil the high fitness and performance criteria, to ensure high standard of representation in the international league.”
